Summary of the technological need

We are looking for technology and experience in the field of human-like robotics and in particular robotic hands and arms.

Background

Hummingdrones passionately believes that the next technological wave of revolution will be centred around mobile robotics in general and humanoids in particular. We believe that the current state of technology is right on the verge of allowing a chain reaction of technological progress towards the development of practical applicable humanoids. One of the largest technological challenges in this field is the development of a human-like arm and hand end effector. Most companies are focussing on the mobility of humanoids (Boston Dynamics, Honda, Ubtech. Toyota….), however we would like to focus on a domain that is still relatively in its infancy, namely the development of human-like arms and hands a domain were creativity is still one of the most important resources.

Application domains

We target sectors that require relatively difficult handlings that are difficult to repeat. Additionally we would like to make use of some of the advantages of using robotic arms instead of real human arms. For example: the higher strength and the ability to operate in hazardous environments. Sectors we are studying now are: the construction industry and the deconstruction of nuclear power plants.

Specifications

No stringent requirements for the technology are needed. The technology specifically needs to be able to mimic the human arm or hand motion. Size wise we are looking for a robotic arm that is comparable with the average size of a human arm. The maximum acceptable cost per unit is about €5000 initially.
